Foryourselves, brethren, knowour entrance inuntoyou, that it wasnotinvain:
Buteven after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, atPhilippi, we were boldinourGod to speakuntoyou the gospel of Godwithmuchcontention.
Forourexhortation was notofdeceit, norofuncleanness, noringuile:
Butas we were allowedofGod to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; notaspleasingmen, butGod, which triethourhearts.
Forneither at any time used weflatteringwords, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
Norofmensought we glory, neitherofyou, nor yet ofothers, when we might have beenburdensome, as the apostlesofChrist.
But we weregentleamongyou, even as a nursecherishethherchildren:
So being affectionately desirous of you, we werewilling to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of Godonly, butalso our ownsouls, because ye weredear unto us.
For ye remember, brethren, ourlabourandtravail: forlabouringnightandday, because we wouldnot be chargeableuntoany of you, we preacheduntoyou the gospel of God.
Ye are witnesses, andGod also, howholilyandjustlyandunblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
As ye knowhow we exhortedandcomfortedandchargedeveryone of you, as a father doth hischildren,
Thatye would walkworthy of God, who hath calledyouuntohiskingdomandglory.

For thiscausealsothankweGod without ceasing, because, when ye received the wordofGodwhich ye heardofus, ye received it notas the wordofmen, butas it isintruth, the wordofGod, which effectually workethalsoinyou that believe.
Forye, brethren, becamefollowersof the churchesofGodwhichinJudaeaareinChristJesus: foryealsohavesuffered like thingsof your owncountrymen, evenas they haveof the Jews:

Who bothkilled the LordJesus, and their ownprophets, and have persecutedus; and they pleasenotGod, and are contrary to allmen:
Forbiddingustospeakto the Gentilesthat they might be saved, to fill uptheirsinsalway: for the wrath is comeuponthemto the uttermost.
Butwe, brethren, being takenfromyoufor a shorttime in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to seeyourfacewithgreatdesire.
Wherefore we would have comeuntoyou, evenIPaul, onceandagain; butSatanhinderedus.
Forwhat is ourhope, orjoy, orcrown of rejoicing? Are notevenye in the presence of ourLordJesusChristathiscoming?
