From whence come warsandfightingsamongyou? come they nothence, even ofyourlusts that warinyourmembers?
2Yelust, andhavenot: yekill, and desire to have, andcannotobtain: yefightandwar, yetyehavenot, becauseyeasknot.

Ye ask, andreceivenot, because ye askamiss, that ye may consume it uponyourlusts.
4Yeadulterersandadulteresses, know yenotthat the friendship of the worldisenmity with God?whosoevertherefore will be a friend of the worldis the enemy of God.

Do ye thinkthat the scripturesaithinvain, The spiritthatdwellethinuslustethtoenvy?
6But he givethmoregrace. Wherefore he saith, Godresisteth the proud, butgivethgrace unto the humble.

Submit yourselvestherefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will fleefromyou.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; andpurify your hearts, ye double minded.

Be afflicted, andmourn, andweep: let yourlaughter be turnedtomourning, andyourjoytoheaviness.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall liftyouup.
11Speaknotevil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of hisbrother, andjudgethhisbrother, speaketh evil of the law, andjudgeth the law: butif thou judge the law, thou artnot a doer of the law, but a judge.

There isonelawgiver, whoisable to saveand to destroy: whoartthouthatjudgestanother?
13Gotonow, ye that say, Todayortomorrow we will gointosuchacity, andcontinuethereayear, and buy andsell, and get gain:
14Whereas ye knownotwhat shall be on the morrow. Forwhatisyourlife? It iseven a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, andthen vanisheth away.

For thatye ought to say, If the Lordwill, we shall live, anddothis, orthat.
16Butnow ye rejoiceinyourboastings: allsuchrejoicingisevil.
17Therefore to him that knoweth to dogood, anddoeth it not, to him it issin.
