1AndJesus being full of the HolyGhostreturnedfromJordan, and was ledby the Spiritinto the wilderness,
2Beingfortydaystemptedof the devil. Andinthosedays he did eatnothing: and when they were ended, he afterwardhungered.
3And the devilsaid unto him, If thou be the Son of God, commandthisstonethat it bemadebread.
4AndJesusansweredhim, saying, It is written, Thatmanshallnotlivebybreadalone, butbyeveryword of God.
5And the devil, takinghimupinto an highmountain, shewed unto himall the kingdoms of the worldin a moment of time.
6And the devilsaid unto him, Allthispowerwill I givethee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; andtowhomsoever I will I giveit.
7Ifthoutherefore wilt worshipme, all shall bethine.
8AndJesusansweredandsaid unto him, Get theebehindme, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the LordthyGod, andhimonly shalt thou serve.
9And he broughthimtoJerusalem, andsethimon a pinnacle of the temple, andsaid unto him, If thou be the Son of God, castthyselfdown from hence:
10For it is written, He shall givehisangelschargeoverthee, to keepthee:
11Andin their hands they shall beartheeup, lest at any time thou dashthyfootagainst a stone.
12AndJesusansweringsaid unto him, It is said, Thou shaltnottempt the LordthyGod.
13And when the devil had endedall the temptation, he departedfromhimfor a season.
14AndJesusreturnedin the powerof the SpiritintoGalilee: and there went out a fameofhimthroughall the region round about.
15Andhetaughtintheirsynagogues, being glorifiedofall.
16And he cametoNazareth, where he had been brought up: and, ashiscustomwas, he wentinto the synagogueon the sabbathday, and stood up for toread.
17And there wasdelivered unto him the book of the prophetEsaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the placewhere it waswritten,

The Spirit of the Lord is uponme, because he hath anointedme to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sentme to heal the brokenhearted, to preachdeliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to setatliberty them that are bruised,

To preach the acceptableyear of the Lord.
20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that werein the synagoguewerefastened on him.
21And he began to sayuntothem, Thisdayisthisscripturefulfilledinyourears.
22Andallbarehimwitness, andwonderedat the graciouswordswhichproceeded out ofhismouth. And they said, Isnotthis Joseph's son?
23And he saiduntothem, Ye willsurelysayuntomethisproverb, Physician, healthyself: whatsoever we have hearddoneinCapernaum, doalsohereinthycountry.
24And he said, Verily I say unto you, Noprophetisacceptedin his owncountry.
25But I tellyouof a truth, manywidowswereinIsraelin the daysofElias, when the heavenwas shut upthreeyearsandsixmonths, whengreatfaminewasthroughoutall the land;
26Butuntonone of themwasEliassent, saveuntoSarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27AndmanyleperswereinIsraelin the time of Eliseus the prophet; andnone of them was cleansed, savingNaaman the Syrian.
28And all theyin the synagogue, when theyheard these things, were filled with wrath,
29And rose up, andthrusthim out of the city, andledhimunto the browof the hillwhereontheircity was built, that they might casthim down headlong.
30Buthepassingthrough the midst of them went his way,
31And came downtoCapernaum, a city of Galilee, andtaughtthemon the sabbath days.
32And they were astonishedathisdoctrine: forhiswordwaswithpower.
33Andin the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an uncleandevil, and cried out with a loudvoice,
34Saying, Let usalone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth?art thou come to destroyus? I knowtheewho thou art; the Holy One of God.
35AndJesusrebukedhim, saying, Hold thy peace, andcome out ofhim. And when the devil had thrownhimin the midst, he came out ofhim, andhurthimnot.
36And they wereallamazed, andspakeamongthemselves, saying, What a word is this! forwithauthorityandpower he commandeth the uncleanspirits, and they come out.
37And the fameofhim went outintoeveryplaceof the country round about.
38And he arose out of the synagogue, andenteredinto Simon's house. And Simon's wife's motherwas taken with a greatfever; and they besoughthimforher.
39And he stoodoverher, andrebuked the fever; and it lefther: andimmediately she aroseandministered unto them.
40Now when the sun was setting, all they thathad any sick with diversdiseasesbroughtthemuntohim; and he laid his handsoneveryone of them, andhealedthem.
41Anddevilsalsocameoutofmany, crying out, andsaying, ThouartChrist the SonofGod. Andherebukingthemsufferedthemnot to speak: for they knew that hewasChrist.
42And when it wasday, he departedandwentinto a desertplace: and the peoplesoughthim, andcameuntohim, andstayedhim, that he should notdepartfromthem.
43And he saiduntothem, Imustpreach the kingdom of God to othercitiesalso: fortherefore am Isent.
