The voice of one cryingin the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, makehispathsstraight.
4Johndidbaptizein the wilderness, andpreach the baptism of repentancefor the remission of sins.
5And there went outuntohimall the landofJudaea, and they ofJerusalem, andwereallbaptizedofhimin the riverofJordan, confessingtheirsins.
6AndJohnwasclothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skinabouthisloins; and he did eatlocustsandwildhoney;
7Andpreached, saying, There cometh one mightier thanIafterme, the latchet of whoseshoesIamnotworthy to stoop downandunloose.
8Iindeed have baptizedyouwithwater: buthe shall baptizeyouwith the HolyGhost.
9And it came to passinthosedays, that JesuscamefromNazarethofGalilee, and was baptizedofJohninJordan.
10Andstraightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavensopened, and the Spiritlike a dovedescendinguponhim:
11And there came a voicefromheaven, saying, ThouartmybelovedSon, inwhom I am well pleased.
12Andimmediately the Spiritdrivethhiminto the wilderness.
13And he wastherein the wildernessfortydays, temptedofSatan; andwaswith the wild beasts; and the angelsministered unto him.
14Nowafter that John was put in prison, JesuscameintoGalilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15Andsaying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, andbelieve the gospel.
16Now as he walkedby the sea of Galilee, he sawSimonandAndrewhisbrothercasting a netinto the sea: for they werefishers.
17AndJesussaid unto them, Come yeafterme, and I will makeyou to becomefishers of men.
18Andstraightway they forsooktheirnets, andfollowedhim.
19And when he had gone a littlefurtherthence, he sawJames the son of Zebedee, andJohnhisbrother, whoalso were in the shipmending their nets.
20Andstraightway he calledthem: and they lefttheirfatherZebedeein the shipwith the hired servants, andwentafterhim.
21And they wentintoCapernaum; andstraightway on the sabbath day he enteredinto the synagogue, andtaught.
22And they were astonishedathisdoctrine: for he taughtthemas one that hadauthority, andnotas the scribes.
23And there wasintheirsynagogue a manwith an uncleanspirit; and he cried out,
24Saying, Let usalone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth?art thou come to destroyus? I knowtheewho thou art, the Holy One of God.
25AndJesusrebukedhim, saying, Hold thy peace, andcome out ofhim.
26And when the uncleanspirit had tornhim, andcried with a loudvoice, he came out ofhim.
27And they wereallamazed, insomuch that they questionedamongthemselves, saying, Whatthingisthis?whatnewdoctrineisthis?forwithauthoritycommandeth he even the uncleanspirits, and they do obeyhim.
28Andimmediatelyhisfame spread abroadthroughoutall the region round aboutGalilee.
29Andforthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they enteredinto the houseofSimonandAndrew, withJamesandJohn.
30But Simon's wife's motherlay sick of a fever, andanon they tellhimofher.
31And he cameandtookher by the hand, andliftedherup; andimmediately the feverlefther, and she ministered unto them.
32Andateven, when the sun did set, they broughtuntohimall that werediseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
33Andall the citywas gathered togetherat the door.
34And he healedmany that weresick of diversdiseases, and cast outmanydevils; andsufferednot the devils to speak, because they knewhim.
35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, anddepartedinto a solitaryplace, andthereprayed.
36AndSimonand they that were withhim followed afterhim.
37And when they had foundhim, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
38And he said unto them, Let us gointo the nexttowns, that I may preach there also: fortherefore came I forth.
39And he preachedintheirsynagoguesthroughoutallGalilee, and cast outdevils.
40And there came a lepertohim, beseechinghim, and kneeling downtohim, andsaying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canstmakemeclean.
41AndJesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, andtouchedhim, andsaith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosydepartedfromhim, andhe was cleansed.
43And he straitly chargedhim, andforthwithsenthimaway;
44Andsaith unto him, See thou saynothing to any man: but go thyway, shewthyself to the priest, andofferforthycleansing those things which Mosescommanded, for a testimony unto them.
45But he went out, andbegantopublish it much, andto blaze abroad the matter, insomuch thatJesuscould no moreopenlyenterinto the city, butwaswithoutindesertplaces: and they cametohim from every quarter.
