1And the fifthangelsounded, and I saw a starfallfromheavenunto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomlesspit.
2And he opened the bottomlesspit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smokeof a greatfurnace; and the sunand the air were darkened by reason of the smokeof the pit.
3And there came out of the smokelocustsupon the earth: and unto them was givenpower, as the scorpionsof the earthhavepower.
4And it was commandedthemthat they shouldnothurt the grass of the earth, neitherany green thing, neitheranytree; butonly those menwhichhavenot the seal of Godintheirforeheads.
5And to them it was giventhat they shouldnotkillthem, butthat they should be tormentedfivemonths: andtheirtorment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
6Andinthosedaysshallmenseekdeath, andshallnotfindit; andshalldesire to die, anddeathshallfleefromthem.
7And the shapes of the locustswerelikeuntohorsesprepareduntobattle; andontheirheadswereas it werecrownslikegold, andtheirfaceswereas the faces of men.
8And they hadhairas the hair of women, andtheirteethwereas the teeth of lions.
9And they hadbreastplates, as it werebreastplates of iron; and the sound of theirwings was as the sound of chariots of manyhorsesrunningtobattle.
10And they hadtailslike unto scorpions, and there werestingsintheirtails: andtheirpower was to hurtmenfivemonths.
11And they had a kingoverthem, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whosenamein the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, butin the Greek tonguehath his nameApollyon.
12Onewoe is past; and, behold, there cometwowoesmorehereafter.
13And the sixthangelsounded, and I heardavoicefrom the fourhorns of the goldenaltarwhich is beforeGod,
14Saying to the sixthangelwhichhad the trumpet, Loose the fourangelswhich are boundin the greatriverEuphrates.
15And the fourangels were loosed, which were preparedfor an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, fortoslay the third part of men.
16And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundredthousandthousand: and I heard the number of them.
17Andthus I saw the horsesin the vision, andthem that satonthem, havingbreastplatesoffire, andofjacinth, andbrimstone: and the headsof the horses were as the headsoflions; and out oftheirmouthsissuedfireandsmokeandbrimstone.
18Bythesethreewas the third partofmenkilled, by the fire, andby the smoke, andby the brimstone, whichissued out oftheirmouths.
19Fortheirpowerisintheirmouth, andintheirtails: fortheirtails were like unto serpents, andhadheads, andwiththem they do hurt.
20And the restof the menwhichwerenotkilledbytheseplaguesyetrepentednotof the worksoftheirhands, that they shouldnotworshipdevils, andidolsofgold, andsilver, andbrass, andstone, andofwood: whichneithercansee, norhear, norwalk:
