Isaythen, HathGod cast awayhispeople?Godforbid. ForIalsoam an Israelite, of the seedofAbraham, of the tribeofBenjamin.
Godhathnot cast awayhispeoplewhich he foreknew. Wot yenotwhat the scripturesaithofElias?how he maketh intercession to GodagainstIsrael, saying,
Lord, they have killedthyprophets, and digged downthinealtars; andI am leftalone, and they seekmylife.
Butwhatsaith the answer of God unto him? I havereserved to myself seven thousandmen, whohavenotbowed the knee to the image of Baal.

Even sothenat this presenttimealso there is a remnantaccording to the election of grace.
Andif by grace, then isit no moreofworks: otherwisegraceis no moregrace. Butifit be ofworks, then isit no moregrace: otherwiseworkis no morework.
Whatthen?Israelhathnotobtainedthatwhich he seeketh for; but the electionhathobtainedit, and the rest were blinded

(According as it is written, God hath giventhem the spirit of slumber, eyes that they shouldnotsee, andears that they shouldnothear;) untothisday.
AndDavidsaith, Lettheirtable be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
Lettheireyes be darkened, that they maynotsee, and bow downtheirbackalway.

I saythen, Have they stumbledthat they should fall? God forbid: but rather through theirfallsalvation is come unto the Gentiles, for toprovokethemtojealousy.
Nowif the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much moretheirfulness?
ForIspeak to youGentiles, inasmuch asIam the apostle of the Gentiles, Imagnifymineoffice:

If by any means I may provoke to emulationthem which are myflesh, and might savesomeofthem.
Forif the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, butlifefrom the dead?
Forif the firstfruit be holy, the lump is alsoholy: andif the root be holy, so are the branches.
And if some of the branches be broken off, andthou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed inamongthem, andwiththempartakest of the rootandfatness of the olive tree;
Boastnotagainst the branches. Butifthouboast, thoubearestnot the root, but the rootthee.

Thou wilt saythen, The branches were broken off, thatI might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, andthoustandest by faith. Benothighminded, butfear:
ForifGodsparednot the naturalbranches, take heed lesthealsosparenotthee.
Beholdtherefore the goodnessandseverity of God: on them which fell, severity; buttowardthee, goodness, ifthoucontinue in his goodness: otherwisethoualso shalt be cut off.
Andtheyalso, iftheyabidenot still inunbelief, shall be graffed in: forGodisable to grafftheminagain.
Forifthou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wildbynature, and wert graffed contrary tonatureinto a good olive tree: how muchmore shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffedinto their own olive tree?
For I wouldnot, brethren, thatye should beignorant of thismystery, lestye should bewisein your own conceits; thatblindnessinpart is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentilesbe come in.
AndsoallIsrael shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out ofSion the Deliverer, and shall turn awayungodlinessfromJacob:
Forthis is mycovenant unto them, when I shall take awaytheirsins.

As concerning the gospel, they are enemiesfor your sakes: but as touching the election, they are belovedfor the fathers' sakes.
For the giftsandcalling of God are without repentance.
Forasye in times pasthave not believedGod, yethavenow obtained mercythrough their unbelief:

Even sohavethesealsonow not believed, that through yourmercytheyalso may obtain mercy.
ForGod hath concluded them allinunbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
O the depth of the richesboth of the wisdomandknowledge of God! howunsearchable are hisjudgments, andhisways past finding out!
Forwho hath known the mind of the Lord?orwho hath beenhiscounsellor?
Orwho hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto himagain?
Forofhim, andthroughhim, andtohim, are all things: towhom be gloryforever. Amen.
