Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your ownhusbands; that, if any obey not the word, theyalsomaywithout the word be wonby the conversation of the wives;

While they beholdyourchasteconversation coupled withfear.
Whoseadorning let itnotbe that outwardadorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hiddenman of the heart, in that whichis not corruptible, even the ornament of a meekandquietspirit, whichisin the sight of God of great price.
For after this mannerin the old time the holywomenalso, whotrustedinGod, adornedthemselves, being insubjection unto their ownhusbands:

Even asSaraobeyedAbraham, callinghimlord: whosedaughters ye are, as long as ye do well, andarenotafraid with anyamazement.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according toknowledge, givinghonour unto the wife, as unto the weakervessel, andas being heirs together of the grace of life; thatyourprayersbenothindered.
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
Notrenderingevilforevil, orrailingforrailing: butcontrariwiseblessing; knowingthat ye arethereuntocalled, that ye should inherit a blessing.
For he that willlovelife, andseegooddays, let him refrainhistonguefromevil, andhislips that they speaknoguile:

Let him eschewevil, anddogood; let him seekpeace, andensueit.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, andhisears are open untotheirprayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that doevil.
Andwho is he that will harmyou, if ye befollowers of that which is good?
Butandif ye sufferfor righteousness' sake, happy are ye: andbenotafraid of theirterror, neitherbetroubled;
Butsanctify the LordGodinyourhearts: and be readyalwaysto give an answerto every man that askethyou a reasonof the hope that is inyouwithmeeknessandfear:
Having a goodconscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamedthat falsely accuseyourgoodconversationinChrist.
For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye sufferfor well doing, thanfor evil doing.
ForChristalso hath oncesufferedforsins, the justfor the unjust, that he might bringus to God, being put to death in the flesh, butquickened by the Spirit:
Bywhichalso he went and preached unto the spiritsinprison;

Which sometime were disobedient, whenonce the longsuffering of Godwaitedin the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, whereinfew, that is, eightsouls were savedbywater.

The like figurewhereunto even baptismdothalsonowsave us(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a goodconsciencetowardGod,) by the resurrection of JesusChrist:
Whoisgoneintoheaven, andison the right hand of God; angelsandauthoritiesandpowers being made subject unto him.
