Through faith we understand that the worldswereframed by the wordofGod, so that things which are seenwerenotmadeof things which do appear.
4ByfaithAbeloffered unto God a more excellentsacrificethanCain, bywhich he obtained witness that he wasrighteous, Godtestifyingofhisgifts: andbyit he being deadyetspeaketh.

By faithEnochwastranslated that he shouldnotseedeath; andwasnotfound, becauseGod had translatedhim: forbeforehistranslation he had this testimony, that he pleasedGod.
6Butwithoutfaith it isimpossible to pleasehim: for he thatcometh to Godmustbelievethat he is, andthat he is a rewarder of them that diligently seekhim.
7ByfaithNoah, being warned ofGodof things notseen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an arkto the savingofhishouse; by the which he condemned the world, andbecameheirof the righteousnesswhich is byfaith.

Through faithalsoSaraherselfreceivedstrengthtoconceiveseed, and was delivered of a child when she was pastage, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

13Thesealldiedinfaith, not having received the promises, but having seenthem afar off, andwere persuaded ofthem, andembracedthem, andconfessedthat they werestrangersandpilgrimson the earth.
14For they thatsay such things declare plainlythat they seek a country.
15Andtruly, if they had been mindful of that country fromwhence they came out, they might have hadopportunity to have returned.
16Butnow they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: whereforeGodisnotashamed to be calledtheirGod: for he hath preparedforthem a city.

34Quenched the violenceoffire, escaped the edgeof the sword, out ofweakness were made strong, waxedvaliantinfight, turned to flight the armiesof the aliens.
35Womenreceivedtheirdead raised to life again: andothers were tortured, notacceptingdeliverance; that they might obtain a betterresurrection:
36Andothershadtrial of cruel mockingsandscourgings, yea, moreover of bondsandimprisonment:

They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slainwith the sword: they wandered aboutinsheepskinsandgoatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

(Of whom the worldwasnotworthy:) they wanderedindeserts, andinmountains, andindensandcaves of the earth.
39Andtheseall, having obtained a good reportthroughfaith, receivednot the promise:
40God having providedsomebetterthingforus, thattheywithoutusshouldnot be made perfect.
