Thenverily the first covenant hadalsoordinances of divine service, and a worldlysanctuary.
For there was a tabernaclemade; the first, whereinwas the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
Andafter the secondveil, the tabernaclewhich is called the Holiest of all;

Which had the goldencenser, and the ark of the covenantoverlaid round about with gold, wherein was the goldenpot that hadmanna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
Andoverit the cherubimsofgloryshadowing the mercyseat; ofwhich we cannotnowspeakparticularly.
Now when these thingswerethusordained, the priestswentalwaysinto the firsttabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
Butinto the second went the high priestaloneonce every year, notwithoutblood, which he offeredforhimself, andfor the errors of the people:

The HolyGhostthissignifying, that the way into the holiest of allwas not yet made manifest, while as the firsttabernaclewasyetstanding:
Which was a figurefor the time then present, inwhich were offeredbothgiftsandsacrifices, that couldnotmake him that did the serviceperfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

Which stood onlyinmeatsanddrinks, anddiverswashings, andcarnalordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
ButChrist being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greaterand more perfecttabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of thisbuilding;
Neitherby the blood of goatsandcalves, butby his ownblood he entered inonceinto the holy place, having obtainedeternalredemption for us.
Forif the blood of bullsand of goats, and the ashes of an heifersprinkling the unclean, sanctifiethto the purifying of the flesh:

How muchmoreshall the blood of Christ, whothrough the eternalSpiritofferedhimself without spottoGod, purgeyourconsciencefromdeadworkstoserve the livingGod?
Andforthiscause he is the mediator of the newtestament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressionsthat were under the firsttestament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternalinheritance.
Forwhere a testament is, there must also of necessitybe the death of the testator.
For a testament is offorceafter men are dead: otherwise it is ofnostrength at allwhile the testatorliveth.
Whereuponneither the first testament was dedicatedwithoutblood.
ForwhenMoses had spokeneveryprecept to all the peopleaccording to the law, he took the blood of calvesand of goats, withwater, andscarletwool, andhyssop, andsprinkledboth the book, andall the people,
Saying, This is the blood of the testamentwhichGod hath enjoineduntoyou.
Moreover he sprinkled with bloodboth the tabernacle, andall the vessels of the ministry.
Andalmost all thingsareby the lawpurgedwithblood; andwithout shedding of bloodisnoremission.

It was thereforenecessary that the patterns of thingsin the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly thingsthemselves with bettersacrificesthanthese.
ForChristisnotenteredinto the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; butintoheavenitself, now to appear in the presence of Godforus:
Nor yet that he should offerhimselfoften, as the high priestenterethinto the holy placeeveryyearwithblood of others;

For thenmustheoften have sufferedsince the foundation of the world: butnowoncein the end of the world hath heappearedto put awaysinby the sacrifice of himself.
Andas it is appointed unto menonce to die, butafterthis the judgment:
SoChrist was onceofferedtobear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second timewithoutsinuntosalvation.
