1ThenJesussixdaysbefore the passovercametoBethany, whereLazaruswaswhich had been dead, whom he raisedfrom the dead.
2There they madehim a supper; andMarthaserved: butLazaruswasone of them that sat at the table with him.
3ThentookMary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, andanointed the feet of Jesus, andwipedhisfeetwithherhair: and the house was filledwith the odour of the ointment.
5Whywasnotthisointmentsold for three hundredpence, andgiven to the poor?
6Thishesaid, notthathecaredfor the poor; butbecausehewas a thief, andhad the bag, andbare what was put therein.
7ThensaidJesus, Letheralone: against the day of myburying hath she keptthis.
8For the pooralways ye havewithyou; butme ye havenotalways.
9Muchpeopleof the Jewsthereforeknewthat he wasthere: and they camenotforJesus' sake only, butthat they might seeLazarusalso, whom he had raisedfrom the dead.
10But the chief priestsconsultedthat they might putLazarusalso to death;
11Because that by reason of himmany of the Jews went away, andbelievedonJesus.
12
On the next daymuchpeoplethat were cometo the feast, when they heardthatJesus was comingtoJerusalem,
13Tookbranches of palm trees, and went forthtomeethim, andcried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that comethin the name of the Lord.
14AndJesus, when he had found a young ass, satthereon; as it iswritten,
15Fearnot, daughter of Sion: behold, thyKingcometh, sittingon an ass's colt.
16
These thingsunderstoodnothisdisciples at the first: butwhenJesus was glorified, then remembered theythat these thingswerewrittenofhim, andthatthey had done these things unto him.
17
The peopletherefore that waswithhimwhen he calledLazarus out of his grave, andraisedhimfrom the dead, bare record.
18
For thiscause the peoplealsomethim, for that they heardthat he had donethismiracle.
19
The Phariseesthereforesaidamongthemselves, Perceive yehowyeprevailnothing?behold, the world is goneafterhim.
20And there werecertainGreeksamong them that came uptoworshipat the feast:
21
The samecametherefore to Philip, which was ofBethsaidaofGalilee, anddesiredhim, saying, Sir, we wouldseeJesus.
23AndJesusansweredthem, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheatfallinto the ground and die, itabidethalone: butifitdie, it bringeth forthmuchfruit.
25
He that lovethhislife shall loseit; and he that hatethhislifeinthisworld shall keepituntolifeeternal.
26If any manserveme, let himfollowme; andwhereIam, thereshallalsomyservantbe: if any manserveme, himwillmyFatherhonour.
27Nowismysoultroubled; andwhat shall Isay?Father, savemefromthishour: but for thiscause came Iuntothishour.
28Father, glorifythyname. Then came there a voicefromheaven, saying, I havebothglorified it, and will glorify it again.
29
The peopletherefore, that stood by, andheard it, said that it thundered: otherssaid, An angelspake to him.
30Jesusansweredandsaid, Thisvoicecamenot because ofme, butfor your sakes.
31Nowis the judgment of thisworld: nowshall the prince of thisworld be castout.
32
And I, ifI be lifted upfrom the earth, will drawall men untome.
33This he said, signifyingwhatdeath he shoulddie.
34
The peopleansweredhim, We have heard out of the lawthatChristabidethforever: andhowsayestthou, The Sonofmanmust be lifted up?whoisthisSonofman?
35ThenJesussaid unto them, Yet a littlewhileis the lightwithyou. Walkwhile ye have the light, lestdarkness come uponyou: for he that walkethindarknessknowethnotwhither he goeth.
36While ye havelight, believein the light, that ye may be the children of light. These thingsspakeJesus, anddeparted, and did hide himselffromthem.
37But though he had done so manymiraclesbeforethem, yet they believednotonhim:
38That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believedourreport?and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39Therefore they couldnotbelieve, because that Esaiassaidagain,
40
He hath blindedtheireyes, andhardenedtheirheart; that they shouldnotsee with theireyes, norunderstand with theirheart, and be converted, and I shouldhealthem.
41
These thingssaidEsaias, when he sawhisglory, andspakeofhim.
42Neverthelessamong the chief rulersalsomanybelievedonhim; butbecause of the Pharisees they didnotconfesshim, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43For they loved the praise of menmorethan the praise of God.
44Jesuscriedandsaid, He that believethonme, believethnotonme, buton him that sentme.
45And he that seethmeseeth him that sentme.
46I am come a lightinto the world, thatwhosoeverbelievethonmeshouldnotabideindarkness.
47Andif any manhearmywords, andbelievenot, Ijudgehimnot: forIcamenottojudge the world, buttosave the world.
48
He thatrejectethme, andreceivethnotmywords, hath one thatjudgethhim: the wordthat I have spoken, the same shall judgehimin the lastday.
49ForIhavenotspokenofmyself; but the Father which sentme, hegaveme a commandment, whatI should say, andwhatI should speak.
50AndIknowthathiscommandmentislifeeverlasting: whatsoeverIspeaktherefore, even as the Fathersaid unto me, soIspeak.
