And he went out from thence, andcameintohisowncountry; andhisdisciplesfollowhim.
And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teachin the synagogue: andmanyhearinghim were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things?andwhatwisdom is this which is given unto him, thatevensuch mighty works are wroughtbyhishands?
Isnotthis the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, andJoses, and of Juda, andSimon?andarenothissistersherewithus? And they were offendedathim.
ButJesussaid unto them, A prophetisnot without honour, butin his owncountry, andamong his ownkin, andin his ownhouse.
And he couldtheredono mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, andhealed them.
And he marvelledbecause of theirunbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
And he called unto him the twelve, andbegan to sendthemforth by twoandtwo; andgavethem power overuncleanspirits;
Andcommandedthemthat they should takenothingfor their journey, save a staffonly; noscrip, nobread, nomoneyin their purse:
But be shod with sandals; andnot put ontwocoats.
And he said unto them, In what placesoever ye enterinto an house, thereabidetill ye depart from that place.
Andwhosoevershallnotreceiveyou, norhearyou, when ye departthence, shake off the dustunderyourfeetfor a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shallbe more tolerableforSodomandGomorrhain the day of judgment, thanforthatcity.
And they went out, andpreachedthat men should repent.
And they cast outmanydevils, andanointed with oilmany that were sick, andhealed them.
AndkingHerodheard of him;(for hisnamewas spread abroad:) and he said, ThatJohn the Baptistwasrisenfrom the dead, andtherefore mighty works do shew forth themselvesinhim.
Otherssaid, That it isElias. Andotherssaid, That it is a prophet, oras one of the prophets.
But when Herodheard thereof, hesaid, ItisJohn, whomIbeheaded: heisrisenfrom the dead.
ForHerodhimself had sent forthand laid hold upon John, andboundhiminprisonforHerodias' sake, hisbrother Philip's wife: for he had marriedher.
ForJohn had said unto Herod, It isnotlawfulforthee to havethy brother's wife.
ThereforeHerodias had a quarrel against him, andwould have killedhim; but she couldnot:
ForHerodfearedJohn, knowing that he was a justmanand an holy, andobservedhim; and when heheardhim, hedid many things, andheardhimgladly.
And when a convenientday was come, thatHerod on hisbirthdaymade a supper to hislords, high captains, andchief estates of Galilee;
And when the daughter of the saidHerodias came in, anddanced, andpleasedHerodand them that sat with him, the kingsaid unto the damsel, Ask of mewhatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
And he swareuntoher, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of mykingdom.
And she went forth, andsaid unto hermother, What shall I ask?And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
And she came instraightwaywithhasteunto the king, andasked, saying, I willthat thou givemebyandbyin a charger the head of John the Baptist.
And the kingwas exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, andfor their sakes which sat with him, he wouldnotrejecther.
Andimmediately the kingsent an executioner, andcommandedhishead to be brought: and he wentandbeheadedhimin the prison,
Andbroughthisheadin a charger, andgaveit to the damsel: and the damselgaveit to hermother.
And when hisdisciplesheard of it, they cameand took uphiscorpse, andlaiditin a tomb.
And the apostles gathered themselves togetheruntoJesus, andtoldhim all things, bothwhat they had done, andwhat they had taught.
And he said unto them, Comeyeyourselvesapartinto a desertplace, andrest a while: for there weremanycomingandgoing, and they had noleisure so much as to eat.
And they departedinto a desertplace by shipprivately.
And the peoplesawthemdeparting, andmanyknewhim, andranafootthither out ofallcities, andoutwentthem, and came togetheruntohim.
AndJesus, when he came out, sawmuchpeople, and was moved with compassiontowardthem, because they wereassheepnothaving a shepherd: and he began to teachthem many things.
And when the daywasnow far spent, hisdisciplescame unto him, andsaid, This is a desertplace, andnow the timeis far passed:
Sendthemaway, that they may gointo the country round about, andinto the villages, andbuythemselvesbread: for they havenothing to eat.

He answeredandsaid unto them, Giveyethem to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we goandbuy two hundredpennyworth of bread, andgivethem to eat?

He saith unto them, How manyloaves have ye?goandsee. And when they knew, they say, Five, andtwofishes.
And he commandedthem to makeall sit down by companiesupon the greengrass.
And they sat down in ranks, byhundreds, andbyfifties.
And when he had taken the fiveloavesand the twofishes, he looked uptoheaven, andblessed, andbrake the loaves, andgavethemtohisdisciplesto set beforethem; and the twofishes divided he among themall.
And they didalleat, and were filled.
And they took uptwelvebasketsfullof the fragments, andof the fishes.
And they that did eat of the loaveswereabout five thousandmen.
Andstraightwayheconstrainedhisdisciplestogetinto the ship, andtogoto the other sidebeforeuntoBethsaida, whilehe sent away the people.
And when he had sentthemaway, he departedinto a mountain to pray.
And when evenwascome, the shipwasin the midst of the sea, andhealoneon the land.
And he sawthemtoilinginrowing; for the windwascontraryuntothem: andabout the fourthwatch of the night he comethuntothem, walkingupon the sea, andwould have passed bythem.
But when they sawhimwalkingupon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
For they allsawhim, and were troubled. Andimmediately he talkedwiththem, andsaith unto them, Be of good cheer: it isI; benotafraid.
And he went upuntotheminto the ship; and the windceased: and they were soreamazedinthemselvesbeyondmeasure, andwondered.
For they considerednot the miracle of the loaves: fortheirheartwashardened.
And when they had passed over, they cameinto the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
And when they were come out of the ship, straightwaytheyknewhim,

And ran throughthatwhole region round about, and began to carry aboutinbeds those thatweresick, where they heard he was.
Andwhithersoever he entered, intovillages, orcities, orcountry, they laid the sickin the streets, andbesoughthimthat they might touchif it were but the border of hisgarment: andasmanyastouchedhim were made whole.
