When the morning was come, all the chief priestsandelders of the peopletookcounselagainstJesustoputhimtodeath:
And when they had boundhim, they led himaway, anddeliveredhim to PontiusPilate the governor.
ThenJudas, which had betrayedhim, when he sawthat he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priestsandelders,
Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocentblood. And they said, What is that tous?seethouto that.
And he cast down the pieces of silverin the temple, anddeparted, andwentand hanged himself.
And the chief prieststook the silver pieces, andsaid, It isnotlawful for to puttheminto the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
And they tookcounsel, andboughtwiththem the potter's field, toburystrangersin.
Whereforethatfield was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
Then was fulfilled that which was spokenbyJeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces ofsilver, the priceof him that was valued, whom they of the childrenofIsrael did value;
Andgavethemfor the potter's field, as the Lordappointedme.
AndJesusstoodbefore the governor: and the governoraskedhim, saying, Artthou the King of the Jews?AndJesussaid unto him, Thousayest.
Andwhenhe was accusedof the chief priestsandelders, heanswerednothing.
ThensaidPilate unto him, Hearest thounot how many things they witness againstthee?
And he answeredhimtoneveraword; insomuch that the governormarvelledgreatly.
Nowat that feast the governor was wont to release unto the peopleaprisoner, whom they would.
And they hadthen a notableprisoner, calledBarabbas.
Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilatesaid unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you?Barabbas, orJesuswhich is calledChrist?
For he knewthatforenvy they had deliveredhim.
Whenhe was set downon the judgment seat, hiswifesentuntohim, saying, Have thounothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this dayin a dreambecause of him.
But the chief priestsandelderspersuaded the multitudethat they should askBarabbas, anddestroyJesus.

The governoransweredandsaid unto them, Whetherof the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
Pilatesaith unto them, What shall I dothen with Jesuswhich is calledChrist? They allsay unto him, Let him be crucified.
And the governorsaid, Why, whatevil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
WhenPilatesawthat he could prevailnothing, butthatrather a tumult was made, he tookwater, and washed his handsbefore the multitude, saying, I aminnocentof the bloodofthis just person: seeye to it.
Thenansweredall the people, andsaid, Hisblood be onus, andonourchildren.
Then released heBarabbas unto them: and when he had scourgedJesus, hedelivered him to be crucified.
Then the soldiers of the governortookJesusinto the common hall, and gathereduntohim the wholeband of soldiers.
And they strippedhim, and put onhim a scarletrobe.
And when they had platted a crownofthorns, they put it uponhishead, and a reedinhis right hand: and they bowed the kneebeforehim, andmockedhim, saying, Hail, Kingof the Jews!
And they spituponhim, andtook the reed, andsmotehimon the head.
Andafter that they had mockedhim, they took the robeoff from him, andput his ownraimentonhim, andledhimawaytocrucifyhim.
And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelledtobearhiscross.
And when they were comeunto a placecalledGolgotha, thatis to say, a place of a skull,

They gavehimvinegar to drinkmingledwithgall: and when he had tasted thereof, he wouldnotdrink.
And they crucifiedhim, andpartedhisgarments, castinglots: that it might be fulfilledwhich was spokenby the prophet, They partedmygarments among them, anduponmyvesture did they castlots.
And sitting down they watchedhimthere;
And set upoverhisheadhisaccusationwritten, THISISJESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Then were there twothievescrucifiedwithhim, oneon the right hand, andanotheron the left.
And they that passed byreviledhim, waggingtheirheads,
Andsaying, Thou that destroyest the temple, andbuildest it inthreedays, savethyself. If thou be the Son of God, come downfrom the cross.
Likewisealso the chief priestsmocking him, with the scribesandelders, said,

He savedothers; himself he cannotsave. If he be the King of Israel, let himnow come downfrom the cross, and we will believehim.

He trustedinGod; let himdeliverhimnow, if he will havehim: for he said, I am the Son of God.

The thievesalso, which were crucified with him, cast the same in histeeth.
Nowfrom the sixthhour there wasdarknessoverall the landunto the ninthhour.
Andabout the ninthhourJesuscried with a loudvoice, saying, Eli, Eli, lamasabachthani?that is to say, MyGod, myGod, why hast thou forsakenme?

Some of them that stoodthere, when they heard that, said, This man calleth forElias.
Andstraightwayoneofthemran, andtook a spunge, andfilled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, andgavehim to drink.
Therestsaid, Let be, let us seewhetherElias will come to savehim.
Jesus, when he had criedagain with a loudvoice, yielded up the ghost.
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rentintwainfrom the topto the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocksrent;
And the graves were opened; andmanybodies of the saintswhichsleptarose,
Andcame out of the gravesafterhisresurrection, andwentinto the holycity, andappeared unto many.
Now when the centurion, and they that were withhim, watchingJesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they fearedgreatly, saying, Trulythiswas the Son of God.
Andmanywomenweretherebeholding afar off, whichfollowedJesusfromGalilee, ministering unto him:
AmongwhichwasMaryMagdalene, andMary the mother of JamesandJoses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
When the evenwascome, there came a richmanofArimathaea, namedJoseph, whoalsohimselfwasJesus' disciple:
Hewent to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. ThenPilatecommanded the body to be delivered.
And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrappedit in a clean linen cloth,
Andlaiditin his ownnewtomb, which he had hewn outin the rock: and he rolled a greatstone to the door of the sepulchre, anddeparted.
AndtherewasMaryMagdalene, and the otherMary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
Now the next day, thatfollowed the day of the preparation, the chief priestsandPharisees came togetheruntoPilate,
Saying, Sir, we rememberthatthatdeceiversaid, while he was yetalive, Afterthreedays I will rise again.
Commandtherefore that the sepulchrebe made sureuntil the thirdday, lesthisdisciplescome by night, andstealhimaway, andsay unto the people, He is risenfrom the dead: so the lasterror shall be worse than the first.
Pilatesaid unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it assureas ye can.
So they went, and made the sepulchresure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
