1Then was Jesus led upof the Spiritinto the wilderness to be temptedof the devil.
2And when he had fastedfortydaysandfortynights, he was afterward an hungred.
3And when the temptercame to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, commandthatthesestonesbemadebread.
4But he answered and said, It is written, Manshallnotlivebybreadalone, butbyeveryword that proceedeth out of the mouthofGod.
5Then the deviltakethhimupinto the holycity, andsettethhimon a pinnacle of the temple,
6Andsaith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, castthyselfdown: for it is written, He shall givehisangelschargeconcerningthee: andin their hands they shall beartheeup, lest at any time thou dashthyfootagainst a stone.
7Jesussaid unto him, It is writtenagain, Thou shaltnottempt the LordthyGod.
8Again, the deviltakethhimupinto an exceedinghighmountain, andshewethhimall the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9Andsaith unto him, All these things will I givethee, if thou wilt fall downandworshipme.
10ThensaithJesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the LordthyGod, andhimonly shalt thou serve.
11Then the devilleavethhim, and, behold, angelscameandministered unto him.
12Now when Jesus had heardthatJohn was cast intoprison, he departedintoGalilee;
13AndleavingNazareth, he cameanddweltinCapernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of ZabulonandNephthalim:
14That it might be fulfilledwhich was spokenbyEsaias the prophet, saying,

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyondJordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
16
The peoplewhichsatindarknesssawgreatlight; and to them whichsatin the regionandshadow of deathlight is sprung up.
17From that timeJesusbegan to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
18AndJesus, walkingby the sea of Galilee, sawtwobrethren, SimoncalledPeter, andAndrewhisbrother, casting a netinto the sea: for they werefishers.
19And he saith unto them, Followme, and I will makeyoufishers of men.
20And they straightwayleft their nets, andfollowedhim.
21And going on from thence, he sawothertwobrethren, James the son ofZebedee, andJohnhisbrother, in a shipwithZebedeetheirfather, mendingtheirnets; and he calledthem.
22And they immediatelyleft the shipandtheirfather, andfollowedhim.
23AndJesus went aboutallGalilee, teachingintheirsynagogues, andpreaching the gospel of the kingdom, andhealingall manner of sicknessandall manner of diseaseamong the people.
24AndhisfamewentthroughoutallSyria: and they brought unto himallsickpeople that were taken withdiversdiseasesandtorments, and those which were possessed withdevils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healedthem.
25And there followedhimgreat multitudes of peoplefromGalilee, andfromDecapolis, andfromJerusalem, andfromJudaea, andfrombeyondJordan.
