1Andseeing the multitudes, he went upinto a mountain: and when he was set, hisdisciplescame unto him:
2And he openedhismouth, andtaughtthem, saying,
3Blessed are the poor in spirit: fortheirsis the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are they that mourn: forthey shall be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek: forthey shall inherit the earth.
6Blessed are theywhich do hungerandthirst after righteousness: forthey shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: forthey shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: forthey shall seeGod.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: forthey shall be called the children of God.
10Blessed are they which are persecutedfor righteousness' sake: fortheirsis the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revileyou, andpersecuteyou, and shall say all manner of evilagainstyoufalsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: forgreat is yourrewardinheaven: forso persecuted they the prophetswhich were beforeyou.
13Yeare the saltof the earth: butif the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforthgoodfornothing, but to be castout, and to be trodden under footofmen.
14Yeare the light of the world. A city that is seton an hillcannot be hid.
15Neither do men light a candle, andputitunder a bushel, buton a candlestick; andit giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let yourlightsoshinebeforemen, that they may seeyourgoodworks, andglorifyyourFatherwhich is inheaven.
17Thinknotthat I amcome to destroy the law, or the prophets: I amnotcome to destroy, but to fulfil.
18Forverily I say unto you, Tillheavenandearthpass, onejotoronetittle shall in no wisepassfrom the law, tillall be fulfilled.
19Whosoevertherefore shall breakone of theseleastcommandments, and shall teachmenso, he shall be called the leastin the kingdom of heaven: butwhosoever shall doandteach them, the same shall be calledgreatin the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say unto you, Thatexceptyourrighteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribesandPharisees, ye shall in no caseenterinto the kingdom of heaven.

Ye have heardthat it was said by them of old time, Thou shaltnotkill; andwhosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22ButIsay unto you, Thatwhosoever is angry with hisbrother without a cause shall be in dangerof the judgment: andwhosoever shall say to hisbrother, Raca, shall be in dangerof the council: butwhosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in dangerofhellfire.
23Thereforeif thou bringthygiftto the altar, and thererememberestthatthybrotherhathoughtagainstthee;
24Leavetherethygiftbefore the altar, and go thyway; first be reconciled to thybrother, andthencomeandofferthygift.
25Agreewiththineadversaryquickly, whiles thou artin the waywithhim; lest at any time the adversarydeliverthee to the judge, and the judgedeliverthee to the officer, and thou be castintoprison.
26Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no meanscome out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermostfarthing.

Ye have heardthat it was said by them of old time, Thou shaltnot commit adultery:
28ButIsay unto you, Thatwhosoeverlooketh on a womanto lust afterher hath committed adultery with heralreadyinhisheart.
29Andifthyrighteyeoffendthee, pluckitout, andcastitfromthee: forit is profitablefortheethatone of thymembers should perish, andnotthatthywholebody should be castintohell.
30Andifthyrighthandoffendthee, cutitoff, andcastitfromthee: forit is profitablefortheethatone of thymembers should perish, andnotthatthywholebody should be castintohell.

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put awayhiswife, let him giveher a writing of divorcement:
32ButIsay unto you, Thatwhosoever shall put awayhiswife, saving for the cause of fornication, causethher to commit adultery: andwhosoever shall marryherthat is divorced committeth adultery.
33Again, ye have heardthat it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shaltnot forswear thyself, butshaltperform unto the Lordthineoaths:
34ButIsay unto you, Swearnot at all; neitherbyheaven; for it is God's throne:
35Norby the earth; for it ishisfootstool: neitherbyJerusalem; for it is the city of the greatKing.
36Neither shalt thou swearbythyhead, because thou canstnotmakeonehairwhiteorblack.
37Butletyourcommunicationbe, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than thesecomethofevil.

Ye have heardthat it hath been said, An eyefor an eye, and a toothfor a tooth:
39ButIsay unto you, That ye resistnotevil: butwhosoever shall smitetheeonthyrightcheek, turn to him the otheralso.
40And if any man willsuethee at the law, and take awaythycoat, lethimhavethyclokealso.
41Andwhosoever shall compelthee to goamile, gowithhimtwain.
42Give to him that askeththee, and from him that wouldborrowoftheeturnnot thou away.

Ye have heardthat it hath been said, Thou shalt lovethyneighbour, andhatethineenemy.
44ButIsay unto you, Loveyourenemies, bless them that curseyou, dogood to them that hateyou, andprayfor them which despitefully useyou, andpersecuteyou;
45That ye may be the children of yourFatherwhich is inheaven: for he makethhissun to riseon the evilandon the good, and sendeth rainon the justandon the unjust.
46Forifyelove them whichloveyou, whatreward have ye?donoteven the publicans the same?
47Andif ye saluteyourbrethrenonly, whatdo ye more than others? donoteven the publicansso?
48Beyethereforeperfect, even as yourFatherwhichisinheavenisperfect.
