Take heed that ye donotyouralmsbeforemen, to be seenofthem: otherwise ye havenorewardofyourFatherwhich is inheaven.
Thereforewhen thou doest thine alms, donot sound a trumpetbeforethee, as the hypocritesdoin the synagoguesandin the streets, that they may havegloryofmen. Verily I say unto you, They havetheirreward.
But when thoudoestalms, letnotthy left handknowwhatthy right handdoeth:
Thatthinealms may beinsecret: andthyFatherwhichseethinsecrethimself shall rewardtheeopenly.
Andwhen thou prayest, thou shaltnotbeas the hypocrites are: for they love to praystandingin the synagoguesandin the corners of the streets, that they maybeseen of men. Verily I say unto you, They havetheirreward.
Butthou, whenthouprayest, enterintothycloset, andwhenthou hast shutthydoor, pray to thyFatherwhich is insecret; andthyFatherwhichseethinsecret shall rewardtheeopenly.
But when ye pray, usenot vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they thinkthat they shall be heardfortheir much speaking.
Benotyethereforelike unto them: foryourFatherknoweth what thingsyehave need of, beforeyeaskhim.

After this mannerthereforeprayye: OurFatherwhich art inheaven, Hallowed bethyname.
Thykingdomcome. Thywill be doneinearth, as it is inheaven.
Giveus this dayourdailybread.
Andforgiveusourdebts, asweforgiveourdebtors.
Andleadusnotintotemptation, butdeliverusfromevil: Forthineis the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Forif ye forgivementheirtrespasses, yourheavenlyFather will alsoforgiveyou:
Butif ye forgivenotmentheirtrespasses, neither will yourFatherforgiveyourtrespasses.
Moreoverwhen ye fast, benot, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfiguretheirfaces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They havetheirreward.
Butthou, when thoufastest, anointthinehead, andwashthyface;
That thou appearnot unto men to fast, but unto thyFatherwhich is insecret: andthyFather, whichseethinsecret, shall rewardtheeopenly.
Laynotup for yourselvestreasuresuponearth, wheremothandrust doth corrupt, andwherethieves break throughandsteal:
But lay up for yourselvestreasuresinheaven, whereneithermothnorrust doth corrupt, andwherethievesdonot break throughnorsteal:

The light of the bodyis the eye: ifthereforethineeyebesingle, thywholebody shall be full of light.
Butifthineeyebeevil, thywholebody shall be full of darkness. Iftherefore the light that isintheebedarkness, how greatis that darkness!

No mancanservetwomasters: foreither he will hate the one, andlove the other; or else he will hold to the one, anddespise the other. Ye cannotserveGodandmammon.
Therefore I say unto you, Take nothoughtforyourlife, what ye shall eat, orwhat ye shall drink; nor yet foryourbody, what ye shall put on. Isnot the life more thanmeat, and the bodythanraiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: fortheysownot, neither do theyreap, norgatherintobarns; yetyourheavenlyFatherfeedeththem. Areyenotmuch better thanthey?
Which of you by taking thoughtcanaddonecubituntohisstature?
Andwhy take ye thoughtforraiment?Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toilnot, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, ThatevenSolomoninallhisglorywasnotarrayedlikeone of these.
Wherefore, ifGodsoclothe the grass of the field, which to dayis, and to morrowiscastinto the oven, shall he notmuchmoreclotheyou, O ye of little faith?
Therefore take nothought, saying, What shall we eat?or, What shall we drink?or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(Forafterall these things do the Gentilesseek:) foryourheavenlyFatherknoweththat ye have need of all these things.
But seek yefirst the kingdom of God, andhisrighteousness; andall these things shall be added unto you.
Takethereforenothoughtfor the morrow: for the morrow shall takethoughtfor the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evilthereof.
