The Jewsthenwhichwerewithherin the house, andcomfortedher, when they sawMary, that she rose uphastilyand went out, followedher, saying, She goethunto the gravetoweepthere.
32ThenwhenMarywascomewhereJesuswas, and sawhim, she fell downathisfeet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst beenhere, mybrotherhadnotdied.
33WhenJesusthereforesawherweeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34Andsaid, Where have ye laidhim? They said unto him, Lord, comeandsee.
35Jesuswept.
36Thensaid the Jews, Beholdhow he lovedhim!
37Andsomeofthemsaid, Couldnot this man, whichopened the eyesof the blind, have causedthateven this manshouldnot have died?
38Jesusthereforeagaingroaninginhimselfcomethto the grave. Itwas a cave, and a stonelayuponit.
39Jesussaid, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath beendead four days.
40Jesussaith unto her, Said Inot unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41Then they took away the stone from the place where the deadwaslaid. AndJesusliftedup his eyes, andsaid, Father, I thanktheethat thou hast heardme.
42AndIknewthatthouhearestmealways: butbecause of the peoplewhich stand byIsaid it, that they may believethatthou hast sentme.
43And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loudvoice, Lazarus, comeforth.
44And he that was dead came forth, boundhandandfoot with graveclothes: andhisface was boundabout with a napkin. Jesussaith unto them, Loosehim, and let himgo.
45Thenmanyof the JewswhichcametoMary, and had seen the things whichJesusdid, believedonhim.
46Butsomeofthem went their waysto the Pharisees, andtoldthem what thingsJesus had done.
47Thengathered the chief priestsand the Pharisees a council, andsaid, What do we?forthismandoethmanymiracles.
48If we lethimthusalone, all men will believeonhim: and the Romans shall comeand take awaybothourplaceandnation.
49Andoneofthem, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that sameyear, said unto them, Yeknow nothing at all,
50Norconsiderthat it is expedientforus, thatoneman should diefor the people, andthat the wholenationperishnot.
51Andthis spake henotofhimself: butbeing high priestthatyear, heprophesiedthatJesusshoulddie for thatnation;
52Andnot for thatnationonly, butthatalso he should gather togetherinone the children of Godthat were scattered abroad.
53Thenfromthatday forth they took counsel together for toputhimtodeath.
54Jesusthereforewalked no moreopenlyamong the Jews; butwentthenceunto a countrynear to the wilderness, into a citycalledEphraim, and therecontinuedwithhisdisciples.
55And the Jews' passoverwas nigh at hand: andmanywent out of the countryuptoJerusalembefore the passover, topurifythemselves.
56Then sought they forJesus, andspakeamongthemselves, as they stoodin the temple, Whatthinkye, that he willnotcometo the feast?
57Nowboth the chief priestsand the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any manknewwhere he were, he should shew it, that they might takehim.
